What is PCOS?

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is a common disorder associated with the endocrine system in women of childbearing age.

In PCOS, ovaries produce higher than the normal level of testosterone which causes the hormonal imbalance.

 This hormonal imbalance produces immature follicles, which cannot or delays the release of the ovum, resulting in the irregular menstrual cycle and infertility if remains untreated.

What are the causes of PCOS?

The exact cause is unknown yet there are few underlying conditions responsible for PCOS.

  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Unhealthy eating habits
  • Unhealthy Lifestyle and sedentary life
  • Change in the environment
  • Metabolic disorders
  • Long term stress and anxiety

What are the symptoms of PCOS?

One can’t diagnose PCOS by just a group of symptoms, a proper medical investigation is a must before taking any treatment or therapy as some health problem like underactive thyroid, iron deficiency, insulin resistance, etc can mimic like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. A few common symptoms of PCOS are below, not necessary to have all of them in a single case.

  • Irregular or delayed menstrual cycle
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Unusual weight gain
  • Acne on face
  • Hair fall
  • Hair thinning
  • Facial hair
  • Headache
  • Hyperpigmentation

According to yogic science, our body and life process is governed and regulated by Pran; The Vital Force. There are total ten Pran, out of which five are main.

  1. Pran
  2. Saman
  3. Apan
  4. Udan
  5. Vyan

Apan Pran which is descending in nature functions in connection with the reproductive system and excretory system. When Apan is disturbed it can manifest on the body through deranged functions of the excretory and reproductive system.
